Topping success 鈥� A slice of Chemistry for local schools during chemistry week

Roedd y cwis gwyddoniaeth yn llwyddiant mawr ac fe'i dilynwyd gan ddau gyflwyniad gan wyddonwyr gwall ac aelodau academaidd o staff, Dr Lorrie Murphy a Dr Martina Lahmann.
Top Bangor Chemists arranged an after School event for years 12 and 13 pupils which included free pizza.
The science-themed quiz was a great success and was followed by two career presentations from mad scientists and academic members of staff, Dr Lorrie Murphy and Dr Martina Lahmann.
The Chemistry tower hosted over 50 students at this exciting quiz.
Dr Lorrie Murphy, the event host said 鈥渋t was great so see such a good turn out from local schools and the competition was hard fought. We hope to host more of these science quizzes that engage local science students. Teachers were allowed to take part in separate teams, but were pipped to the post by their own students! Testament to their teaching.鈥�
The winning team were a group from Coleg Menai who went home with thermochromic mugs, chemistry top trumps and huge wall poster periodic tables.
The event was sponsored by the RSC North Wales Section.
