After completing a degree in Sociology at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ, Corinna then went on to work in the Mental Health Voluntary Sector as a Community Development Worker, before returning to full-time education in 2003 after being awarded ESRC (European Social Research Council) funding to complete an MA in Sociology and Social Policy and a PhD at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ: ‘Wales in a Global Neighbourhood: Perspectives of and Reactions to Local and Global Citizenship’. Her PhD looked into issues of local and global civic empowerment and how globalization impacts different locations and communities.

During her postgraduate years, she was given opportunities to teach at an undergraduate level and found she developed a passion for teaching. Corinna’s interests are generally on issues related to globalization and geo-politics including: Citizenship and civic empowerment, local and global concepts of belonging and identity, community, identity, issues of inequality (race, class, gender and intersectionality), environmental sociology, rationalization of the ‘other’ (human and non-human animals).
