Katie is a Lecturer in Product Design (Teaching and Scholarship). She obtained a BDes(Hons) in Product Design and Digital Modelling from Liverpool John Moores University and Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, Finland. She subsequently went on to specialised in Jewellery and Silversmithing, studying at Birmingham School of Jewellery.
Katie worked in industry as a Jewellery Designer and CAD Developer for a Derbyshire based fine jewellery company as a KTP Associate in collaboration with Birmingham City University. In this role she researched and introduced new product development processes and CAD technologies to the company through the design and development of award winning jewellery collections. Alongside this role she also completed an MA Design Management from Birmingham City University.
She established her own successful jewellery design and manufacture company, selling and exhibiting nationally, winning awards for her work from The Goldsmiths Company, Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council, British Jewellery Association and The Gemmological Institute of America. In addition to her own practise, Katie lectured at Birmingham School of Jewellery between 2009 and 2013, specialising in CAD.
She joined the Product Design team at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ in 2014 where she lectures in design and manufacture, CAD and digital graphics. She is the co-author of the Bangor Design Process model, and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ in 2017.
