Assessment Strategy

-threshold -50%> Threshold Demonstrates a basic understanding of the facts and principles specific to the topics covered in this module. Demonstrates safe practice with a reasonable understanding of the assessment and management of patients presenting with a minor illness. Students will be required to achieve a minimum of C- grade in the individual clinical blog in order to pass the theory component of the module. -good -60%> Good Demonstrates a good understanding of the facts and principles specific to the topics covered in this module. Demonstrates a good understanding of the assessment and management of patients presenting with a minor illness This equates to a minimum mark of Grade B- in the Grading Criteria. -excellent -70%> Excellent An excellent understanding of the facts and principles specific to the topics covered in this module and evidence of additional evidence gained by the student. Demonstrates an excellent understanding of the assessment and management of patients presenting with a minor illness This equates to a minimum mark of Grade A- in the Grading Criteria

Learning Outcomes

• Assess, diagnose, manage, treat or refer patients presenting with an acute condition/ minor illness appropriately without medical supervision.

• Critically review appropriate additional diagnostics required for accurate patient assessment

• Develop confidence in taking safe, targeted histories for a variety of patient presentations

• Discuss patient management, including referral requirements and signposting for safe practice
