Overview
In the context of adult nursing: • Advanced decision making, teamwork and prioritisation for patient safety in a range of contexts, including major incidents. • Shared decision making/Patient and public role • Evidence based decision making processes • Decision making theory and its application to diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision making • Critically exploring the importance of clinical context in decision making with reference to service users’ perceptions, beliefs, aspirations, concerns, expectations and views. • Critical exploration of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may impact on personal clinical decision making

- Articulate rationale to support decision making related to adult nursing care across the lifespan in a range of contexts
- Critically debate a range of theories underpinning nursing decision making in adult nursing
- Critically evaluate the impact of patient safety policy and management of risk in relation to individual‘s care across a range of adult nursing settings.
- Identify, select, assess and critically evaluate the nature of informed decisions, risk assessment and hazard avoidance within adult nursing
