The natural place to study the environment

Bee Morphometrics
Imported honey bees from Europe have diluted the genetic make-up of British bees, reducing their adaptation to the climate and environment. Bangor scientists have developed a method that allows beekeepers to identify areas where released virgin queens are more likely to encounter more suitable males.
Food security in Africa
A short film produced by 麻豆传媒高清版 and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has just been released and is available on YouTube. The film was shot in Tigray Region of northern Ethiopia and contrasts two study sites that have varying levels of tree cover. It is based on research conducted by Emelda Hachoofwe (a former MSc Agroforestry student) and Genevieve Lamond (Teaching Associate in SENRGY) in 2012 and followed up in 2013 by Martha Cronin (a consultant at ICRAF but also another of our MSc Agroforestry graduates). The landscapes are dramatic and indicate the importance of vegetative cover for reversing severe land degradation and improving food security.
