Welcome to Food Security @Bangor
Food security has a long and proud history in Bangor, and our recent research has had major impacts in substantially and sustainably increasing food security for some of the poorest farmers in developing countries. Food security is a very broad topic, and our work spans the range from agronomy and plant breeding, through aspects of resource use efficiency, to climate change adaptation and mitigation, both overseas and closer to home. In all of this, we are conscious of the need that, to be really effective, we need to work closely with those who are affected by, and who will benefit from, our innovations.
Our teaching is at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and much of the PG teaching is carried out through distance learning, so practitioners in the field can continue working while at the same time gaining an advanced qualification in their discipline. We can also offer post-experience training courses in a range of topics, which have gained an international reputation.
