We’re far easier to get to than you might think – there are good road links to Bangor along the north Wales coast from the M56 and M6.

By road

Postcode LL57 2DG will bring you to the Main University Building, where our Open Day begins. There are several University car parks around the Main University Building and also in lower Bangor.

If you follow the Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ Open Day signs around Bangor and you'll arrive at one of our car parks (where parking is free of charge).ÌýOpen Day guides will then show you where you need to go.Ìý

By train or bus

By ferry

From Ireland, you can cross on the ferry to Holyhead which is half an hour away from Bangor.

By air

Both Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are around two hours from Bangor, by train or car

Parking at the University car parks is free of charge. Park and Ride facilities have been arranged for the Open Day – this will be signposted from the A55/A5 approach roads to the University. Buses will take you the short distance from the car park to the Main University Building between 8.30am-10.30am. Visitors can also park in any of the University’s designated car parksÌý around the Main University Building on College Road, but space here is limited.

• Follow the signs for theÌýPark & RideÌýcar parks on the Deiniol Road science campus OR for those requiring disabled car parking space, please come straight to the Main Building on College Road.

• TheÌýfirst thing you need to do upon arrival is head for our ‘sign-in area’, located in a big marquee outside the Main University Building on College Road. Staff and students on the Deiniol Road science campus will direct you to the Park & Ride buses – or you can walk through the Pontio building and up the hill to the Main University Building.

• Once theÌýPark & RideÌýcar parks on the Deiniol Road science campus are full –Ìýor if you’re arriving after 10.30amÌý– please drive straight to the Main University Building on College Road where staff will direct you to available car parking spaces.

• Upon arrival at the the Main University Building on College Road, head for the Open DayÌý‘sign-in area’ in the marquee outside the Main University Building. Staff will be there to greet you and direct you to the next part of your day.

• Once you’ve signed in with staff at the marquee,Ìýif in doubt about where to go or what to do next, just ask anyone in either a purple Bangor t-shirt (Student guides) or turquoise Bangor t-shirt (staff helpers)

• We’ll provide you with a printed version ofÌýthe programmeÌýso that you have that to hand throughout the day.

• You’ll be able to make the most of your Open Day Experience, if you’ve already decided what activities you want to attend.

• We offer subject talks throughout the day to give you an opportunity to attend more than one subject talk.

• Be prepared for it to be busy at timesÌý– our Open Days regularly attract large numbers.

• Be aware that we have to limit capacity for some talks and tours, but activities are repeated throughout the day.

• Be prepared to be flexible – if the first subject talk you want to attend is full, you’ll be directed to alternative talks such as the VC’s Talk or the Accommodation presentation or you may want to do one of the tours instead.

• Choosing to attend a subject talk at a different time may also mean that the session will be quieter, giving you more time to ask questions or talk to staff and students.

• Make sure you visit theÌýOpen Day exhibition in Prichard-Jones HallÌý(PJ Hall, Main Building). The exhibition hall brings together all academic schools/colleges and a wide range of support services in one place. For instance, if you have a specific question about course entry requirements, want to know more about disability support, or find out more about sports facilities or the Students’ Union’s clubs and societies – then you’ll find the relevant exhibition stands in PJ Hall with staff and students there to answer your questions.

• Make the most of opportunities to speak to students who are studying the course you’re interested in. They’ll be happy to answer your questions and give you an insight into what it’s like to be studying that course.

• Never cut your visit short - make sure that you see everything that you can fit in, it will be worth it.

• Make notes and take photos on your phone to help remember things more accurately later.

• The locations and buildings being used for the Open Day are highlighted inÌýtheÌýprogramme,Ìýbut if you’re unsure where to go or what to do next, just ask anyone in either a purple Bangor t-shirt (Student guides) or turquoise Bangor t-shirt (staff helpers).

• Free tea and coffeeÌýwill be provided throughout the day in the exhibition area inÌýPJ Hall.

• The University’sÌýcatering outletsÌýare marked on the map inÌýthe programme. They’re open from 9am – 4pm and take cashless payments only.ÌýThese could get busy at peak times, so maybe consider taking an earlier or later lunch break.Ìý

• In theÌýMain University BuildingÌýthere isÌýTeras Café,ÌýsellingÌýbreakfast baps and pastries in the morning and at lunchtime, hot dish of the day, homemade soup, sandwiches, paninis, grab and go snacks.Ìý

• In theÌýPontioÌýbuilding, you'll findÌýCeginÌýon Level 2, selling bagels, pizza, homemade soup, salads, jacket potatoes, grab and go snacks, pastries and cakes andÌýFfynnonÌýon the ground floor, selling hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, grab and go snacks.
