Level 1-7 Welsh in Work certificate
Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ has developed a plan to help staff learn Welsh language skills to use in work at different levels. The plan includes targets to reach at each level. It contains sets of dialogues, phrases and vocabulary for use in different situations at work. You can gain a Welsh in Work certificate by taking a test at the end of each level. Over 120 staff have gained certificates since the scheme was established 5 years ago.
Why follow this plan?
- Useful learning material for the workplace e.g. welcoming visitors, answering phone, talking to students, opening and closing a meeting or presentation
- A goal to be reached and a qualification at all levels of learning
- Flexibility – able to adapt the material and the time to learn it according to the requirements of your job
Levels
The levels are described here. How does the plan work?
The plan is very flexible and entirely voluntary. The Welsh tutor for staff will arrange a half-hour chat with you to discuss the level suitable for you and to agree the content. The content will depend on your work and what will be useful to you. You will then have a series of one-to-one sessions with a tutor to practise, at a time that suits you.
When you feel ready, we will arrange a test time for you with another tutor. The oral test will be informal and last about 10 minutes at levels 1-3 level, and up to half an hour with levels 4-6. Each level includes some writing. You can do this in your own time before or after the oral test. You can use Cysill/Cysgeir (spellchecker and dictionary) to help you.

Staff Testimonials
"I am delighted to have passed the Level 7 Working Welsh Certificate! The levels have provided an opportunity to try different types of activities where I could use my Welsh; for example, talking to colleagues, presenting work, reading and writing, and communicating with the public.
Learning Welsh has been an incredible and positive experience for me. I now feel confident to lecture and research through the medium of Welsh. I am very grateful to the tutors!
