Language Technologies Unit @ Canolfan Bedwyr
Canolfan Bedwyr's Language Technologies Unit is a self-funded Research Unit pioneering research and development in text and speech technologies, terminology standardization, and other aspects of NLP and Computational Linguistics. Its primary focus is on Welsh and other Celtic languages, and on multilingual aspects of communication.
Amongst the LTU鈥檚 special interests are language revitalization through language technologies, and enabling less-resourced languages to thrive in the digital age.
The Unit is responsible for Cysgliad, a package containing a Welsh language spellchecker, a grammar checker, and a collection of comprehensive dictionaries, and has also developed numerous other language proofing tools.
The Unit undertakes work on standardizing terminology, and has also developed electronic dictionaries for both CD and the web.
