The NHS is one of the world's greatest health care service providers. A service that will see you from the moment you鈥檙e born to the day you die. It is an intrinsic part of our society that everyone can recall using at some point in their life.
Describe what you do?
Currently I am a midwifery team leader, I lead a team of midwives who provide care for pregnant women who require additional support during their pregnancy and childbirth journey. This is primarily a community-based role working with colleagues in the primary care sector but extends to secondary and third-sector multidisciplinary working.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
No two days are ever the same. Every day I come to work, I learn something new. No two days, no two births and no two women are ever the same. It鈥檚 an honour to be part of an individual journey into parenthood.
What would you say to someone thinking about a career in the NHS?
It鈥檚 not a millionaire making career but you do reap rewards in other ways. Using your skills, knowledge and experiences, you can have a life changing impact on individuals and families. A sincere 鈥渢hank you鈥 from someone you have cared for is worth for more than gold.
