Bangor has long been a pioneer in mindfulness. Our research has looked at novel applications of techniques and how mindfulness is, and should be, taught, to improve people鈥檚 wellbeing.
Bangor also has a tradition of expertise in the third wave psychotherapy models, such as dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and compassion-based approaches.听
Carers are vital and underappreciated figures in our health and social care system. Understanding the wellbeing of carers is the subject of some of our group鈥檚 impactful work.听
Being based in the most beautiful area of the UK, our members of our group are interested in interventions for health which happen in unusual settings, such as outdoor and adventure therapy.听
Increasingly, the health challenges we face come from long-term health conditions. Understanding how these can be best managed is a key area of research at Bangor.
