Safe Use of Computers Assessor Training
Safe Use of Computers Assessor training allows individuals to assess checklists in order to identify any additional changes or provisions that may be required.
It provides information on how to create record systems and provides additional practical demonstrations to allow assessors to provide further advice in recommending and prioritising any actions or purchases for additional equipment for computer Users within their areas.
Who should participate?
Anyone who holds the Role of College / Department / School DSE Assessor.
The aim of the workshop
To enable individuals to undertake the role of DSE Assessor in order to identify and reduce the risks from Computer activities within their areas.
Benefits of attending
At the end of the session you should be able to;
• Understand how DSE Assessors to review DSE risk forms to identify recommend and/or undertake actions required
• Identify actions might include referral or review, modification suggestions to existing workstations, recommendations for replacement equipment and / or additional purchases as required
• Identify and produce records in the format that DSE Assessors should be keeping
Content
Understanding the correct equipment and how to set up the workstation: including adapting the workstation to the worker, not the worker to the workstation.
Understanding and recognising health problems associated with computer use: prevention – not cure.
Understanding the benefits that the University offers in free eye tests and prescription glasses for computer use, and maintaining this process and records.
Prioritising actions and purchases required.
Records and record keeping.

3 hours
Note: this course includes the content of the Safe Use of Computers user course
This course may be followed up by a practical site visit to assist with assessment in own areas

Delivery is through presentation, demonstration and practical activities.
