Why Bangor 

There were a few reasons why I chose �鶹��ý�����. First, the location. Bangor is a beautiful city that is blessed with serene landscapes such as the sea and mountains, and it is surrounded by greenery. The city is quiet and peaceful which I personally find it perfect to study with minimal distractions around. Second, the university main arts building reminded me of the scenes in the Harry Potter movies, which is not only cool to share it on social media but I too have a strong belief that it’s a place where all magic happens. Third, �鶹��ý����� has its reputation for excellence in research and teaching quality, which gave me the confidence to pursue my final year in the university given that the final semesters are heavily focused on research projects.

As a psychology alumni, how did you feel about studying Psychology at �鶹��ý����� and how do you believe the experience has enhanced your ongoing career?    

�鶹��ý�����ing Psychology in �鶹��ý����� was one of the best decisions I have made in life. I was exposed to different modules that I really enjoyed, especially the Consumer and Applied Psychology module which opened up the door to my career in Marketing and Advertising. I am currently a Strategic Planner working with reputable brands to understand and uncover insights into consumers decision making through studying their attitudes and behaviours.

Accommodation  

I stayed in Bryn Eithin hall in St. Mary's village. It was a great experience living together with hallmates who came from various countries and its a perfect opportunity to learn about different cultures and diversities. Also, I really appreciate the activities and trips organised by Campus Life that are specifically offered to students living in halls.

Clubs and Societies

I was part of the Acapella society and we performed in a few university public stages. I remembered vividly that the first song we practiced was 'Don’t Worry Be Happy', by Bobby McFerrin, and that’s when I fell in love with Acapella and felt closer to the amazing people from the society.

Support from the University 

I have obtained the Bangor Employability Award by completing a variety of workshops such as the Self-Awareness Workshop, Employability Induction Workshop, Part Time Job Searching Workshop and the Personal Professional Development programme. These workshops have helped me greatly in recognising what employers look for in a candidate and how to stand out from a pool of applicants in a job interview.

What was the best thing about your course

The lecturers, they are super friendly and helpful, and I knew I could totally rely on them when I faced any challenges in my studies. Another thing I loved the most from the lecturers in Bangor was they are open minded to any ideas or suggestions that you come up with, which I was very grateful of because I felt encouraged and supported.

Did you have a lecturer who you particularly remember (and why)?    

I partcularly remember lecturers who gave me good grades and great remarks on my work (jokes! I love all of them). One lecturer I remember the most is Dr. Azlina because she’s Malaysian and she used to teach in the previous university I studied at. She was my personal tutor in Bangor and she provided me with guidance when I was feeling unsure about the topic I was going to write for one of my assignments.

Are you still in touch with any of the friends you made at Bangor?    

Yes. We are still in touch on social media and we would schedule a meet up virtually or physically from time to time to reminisce the good old days we spent together in Bangor.

Did you attend your graduation ceremony in Bangor?    

Yes. I was extremely lucky to be able to attend my graduation ceremony before the pandemic striked. It was one of the happiest day in my life because my friends and family travelled all the way to the UK to celebrate a milestone of mine.

What did you go on to do after completing your course?    

I spent some time exploring different cites in Europe with my family and friends before returning to my home country.

What would you say to prospective students considering Bangor for their studies?

Definitely consider Bangor! You’ll be amazed by what the city has to offer as well as the quality education you’ll get from the university. �鶹��ý�����ing in Bangor gives you the opportunity to explore the beauty of Wales and it’s a perfect place for those who really enjoy tranquility and calmness.
