What did you enjoy most about your time at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ?
The friendliness and positivity of the staff across the campus, including student administration, specialist student services, lecturers and library staff have made my experience a positive one. The confidence which this support incites has made a huge difference to both my academic and personal growth. 

What topics did you enjoy studying?
As a joint degree, I had quite an array of modules but there was also ample opportunity to link the two. One module I favoured was during my first year which explored the history of film, and it opened my eyes to the variety of ways people had used film throughout history to express political sentiment or the political climate at the time of release, both intentionally and unintentionally. I think this module aided the rest of my experience with the film school because I could intertwine themes with my primary subject of history. I personally focused my attention on modern and early modern history modules, which ranged from King Charles I to post-war Europe.

Tell us a bit about your Employability Opportunities...
The internship experience was great for me. Compiling a report for a medieval country house on Anglesey meant that I explored an array of different sources and materials to form a cohesive narrative of the site and the ownership since the 15th century. The work really taught me about focusing research with how easy it was to get drawn into interesting evidence which didn’t quite fit with the project’s objectives. Being able to filter material and form a coherent narrative was a major part of my skillset development because I could have kept researching forever! It was also a challenge to analyse some of the found materials, particularly interpreting handwriting and using materials which were new to me, including last Will and Testaments and comparing maps to withdraw information. Just these two examples developed my research skills, problem-solving, utilising primary sources, IT skills, and collaboration. Most of all the internship provided a great opportunity to gain some understanding of the research sector and real historical investigations with the report forming part of wider project intentions for the Institute for the Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ of Welsh Estates , like a form of work experience.

I am a firm believer in the power of those around you informing your experience, and the staff in Bangor have been the making of my experience. No question is discouraged, the value of curiosity is emphasized and with this individuality is encouraged. If module content first appears intimidating or not your exact favourite subject, fear not because the staff make sessions enjoyable with their enthusiasm for the subject and for students to succeed. There’s also such a variety of both module and course options that you can explore a range of interests and periods within the subject or through a course combination as I did. Any student seeking an environment full of support, friendliness, and an array of subject specialities, Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is a great place to consider.
