A series of Welsh language podcasts about sustainable Welsh food 'Llond Ceg - Bwyd Cymraeg Cynaliadwy'听have been launched on the 麻豆传媒高清版 stand at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells.
The aim of podcasts, which have been produced thanks to funding from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, is to offer a flexible and accessible resource to anyone who wishes to understand and learn more about aspects of sustainability, with the emphasis on food.
As part of the series, experts who work along the food chain chat about how food is an essential part of our landscape and identity, the local food system in Wales and the challenges in ensuring food waste reduction and support for families and individuals who need access to affordable and nutritious food.
In the first podcast, food historian Carwyn Greaves, author of several books on Welsh food including Welsh Food Stories, discusses the relationship between food, our landscape and our identity as a country. In the second, there's a conversation about family farming, farming with nature and the alternative food system from Olwen Ford - who farms on the outskirts of Eryri National Park. The third podcast is a conversation with Sonia Williams, Co-ordinator of Bwyd Da M么n - a food hub that offers help in order to save food waste while providing nutritious food and meals to families across Anglesey.
We wanted to create a flexible and accessible resource that would be an opportunity for us to share the perspective and knowledge of experts in the field with the public. Over the course of the series, you can expect to learn more about local Welsh foods, about shorter food chains, and the opportunity to provide nutritious meals through the circular food economy, as well as how reducing food waste reduces unnecessary carbon emissions.
In addition to the talks, which will be available on the 麻豆传媒高清版 website and on the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol - Y Porth resource platform, the platform will offer a short list of discussion topics and research work online, and look at examples of studies case within the circular local food system.
"The Llond Ceg site presents a bit of information about a very current topic that can be used by school or college groups following the BACC at GCSE or A Level and also community groups", adds Dr Lane.
