Dr Graham Ormondroyd becomes Vice President of IOM3
Congratulations to Dr Graham Ormondroyd from the University’s Biocomposites Centre, who has been elected Vice President of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining ().
Dr Graham Ormondroyd started life as a forester, but quickly moved into the area of wood science, with a PhD from Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ. Having spent a year working at Forest Research in New Zealand on industrially focused projects, he settled back at Bangor to undertake research in forest products and the wider area of biomaterials. Graham continues to lead a bio-materials research group as Reader in Biomaterials at the University, and has the role of Co-Lead on a new University-wide research programme on ‘Sustainable High Value Manufacturing’.
Speaking about taking on the role, Graham said, “I am delighted to be elected as a Vice President of the Institute, having worked all my life in sustainable materials, I am looking forward to driving the sustainability agenda across all the Institute’s facets.
“As a Strategic Advisor to IOM3 I have welcomed the chance to interact with the technical communities outside of my direct area of specialism and I look forward to this continuing as I take up this new role. I look forward to the challenges ahead and being part of the team that will forge the future for the Institute and continue to develop the experience of members.â€
