Step 2: Travel Cover (Insurance)
Standard Personal Travel Insurance does not usually cover business travel.
To address this, the University provides FREE Travel Cover to all staff and students travelling overseas on University related business.
To arrange, complete the at least two weeks before departure. In most cases completion of this Form will also act as your Overseas Travel Risk Assessment!
When completing the on-line Travel Cover, be aware that although the University Travel Cover is suitable for most overseas work and study scenarios, you may sometimes need to check the cover is sufficient. For example, because of the country being visited, the duration of your stay, the type of activities being undertaken, especially if travelling further afield, and any enhanced medical needs you have such as an ongoing medical prescription. The University Insurance Officer can help if you have any queries regarding this.
Take all relevant Travel Cover and Insurance information with you. For example, a copy of the Policy Cover Note, Policy Number, Emergency Contact Numbers, Unique Reference Numbers.
It should be noted that many countries will not provide medical treatment without proof of Cover/Insurance, or will charge at point of treatment.
Travellers must contact Global Response before incurring any medical costs as failure to do so WILL result in subsequent medical expenses claims being declined.
