Overview
My research interests are in fisheries science and its application to fisheries management, environmental impact assessment and environmental protection. Past and current research includes the effect of metal pollution on coastal marine fish, the population dynamics of juvenile salmonids in rivers, fish habitat modelling, impacts of forestry and acidification on freshwater fisheries, the development and application of biological reference points (BRPs) to the assessment of national salmon stocks in England and Wales, the role of river discharge on salmonid migration and effects of flow alteration, factors affecting the distribution and life histories of anadromous trout in rivers and coastal waters of the Irish Sea, the ecology and trophic relationships of fish in mangrove ecosystems.
