Overview
Aled Williams is a lecturer in Product Design. He obtained his bachelor degree in Product Design at Bristol Polytechnic and soon after became a freelance designer and outdoor pursuits instructor. His first commercial product launched onto the world market in 1992 and continues in production to the present day.
After successfully completing his PGCE, he taught Design & Technology at Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, Anglesey and later became Head of Department for ICT.
In 2006 he setup his first company and small factory on Anglesey to manufacture his designs. Later he established a new company to bring his latest composite and rotomoulded designs to market, with manufacturing based in Poland, Finland, Thailand and currently in Portugal and the UK. Aled’s designs are sold world wide and are regarded as market leading due to their performance, quality and innovation.
During 2009 he became Team Leader for the LEA based web developments Design Agency, sourcing and managing the resource development work of graphic artists, programmers, data analysts and educators.
He joined the progressive Product Design department at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ in 2013 where he lectures on commercial and professional aspects of design and design thinking, practical prototyping and manufacturing processes, CAD software and additive manufacturing, computer aided manufacturing, workplacement tutoring and professional studies teaching. His design and business innovation skills are often employed by local businesses through consultancy via Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ.
Teaching
BSc Product Design - lecturing including:
- Professional studies, design and manufacture modules, CAD, FEA, workplacement tutoring and academic studies including dissertation.
Aled won Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ's 'Teacher of the Year' at the fifth annual Student Led Teaching Awards ceremony, 2016.
