Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ

I am the Programme lead for Medical Sciences at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ and run a number of modules aligned to my areas of specialty interest in Clinical Physiology and Clinical Biochemistry. I also run projects modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I teach across the Medical Sciences, Biomedical Science and Medical Biology undergraduate programmes, and the postgraduate Biomedical Science programme. 

In my capacity of Senior Tutor to the School of Medical and Health Sciences I am responsible for pastoral care across all of the schools undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. I work closely with the Head of School and the Director of Teaching and Learning to implement the strategies and procedures related to all aspects of pastoral care.

I obtained my BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Chester in 2012. Subsequently I went onto read for a PhD in Clinical Sciences while also completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning. I am a now a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am the programme lead for the Medical Sciences BMedSci programme. I was honoured to be awarded a Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ Teaching Fellowship in June 2022.

I teach across all taught undergraduate programmes including Medical Science, Biomedical Science and Medical Biology and Medical Biochemistry degrees, predominantly in clinical biochemisty and clinicaly physiology modules. I also contribute to the teaching at masters level on the Masters in Biomedical Science programmes.

I am the module leader for:

MSE-2028 Vocational and Research Skills; MSE-2016 Basic Clinical Biochemistry; MSE-3010 Applied Physiology; MSE-3016 Pathophysiology, MSE-3018 Clinical Biochemistry, MSE-3013 Research Project, MSE-4125 Masters Dissertation, MSE-4127 Masters Research Skills and co-lead for MSE-4090 Blood Sciences. I am also a contributing lecturer on MSE-1020 Biomedical Practicals.

Current research interests lie in the surgical response at a cellular level of patients undergoing surgical treatments for nephrolithiasis. My PhD work focuses on the routine haematological, biochemical, inflammatory and endothelial response to surgery and the role of phagocytic leukocytes in patients undergoing flexible ureterenoscopy for the treatment of kidney stones.
