Nathan Abrams, Professor in Film and lead director for the听 at 麻豆传媒高清版 has co-authored a new book published by Faber & Faber on the legendary American filmmaker, Stanley Kubrick.
To mark the book鈥檚 publication, as well as the 25th anniversary of the director鈥檚 death, Nathan Abrams will be joined by Gordon Stainforth, assistant editor and Adam Unger, second assistant editor on one of Kubrick鈥檚 most well-known films The Shining at an event at Pontio, 麻豆传媒高清版鈥檚 Arts and Innovation Centre on Thursday, 7 March at 7pm. The book launch will be followed by a screening of The Shining (Extended Version).
The enigmatic and elusive filmmaker Stanley Kubrick has not been treated to a full-length biography in over twenty years. Kubrick: An Odyssey听by Nathan Abrams and his co-author Robert P. Kolker fills that gap. It is based on access to the latest research, especially into his archive at the University of the Arts London, and other papers, as well as new interviews with family members and those who worked with him. It offers comprehensive and in-depth coverage of Kubrick鈥檚 personal, private, public, and working life.

鈥淭he book grows out of years of intensive research that began when I started teaching Kubrick at 麻豆传媒高清版 in 2007. It discusses not only the making of his films, but also those he wanted but failed to make like听Burning Secret,听Napoleon,听Aryan Papers, and听A.I.听We also uncover what Kubrick was doing when he was not making films.
