Overview
I studied BSc Geological Oceanography here at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ and graduated with first class honours in 2022. During my second year, I procured an internship working on the project ‘Developing Proxies for Deep-time Tides’ with Prof Mattias Green, which inspired my following undergraduate research. My third-year dissertation focussed on evaluating the accuracy of tidal model simulations of the Jurassic Laurasian Seaway using geological proxies for tides, under Prof Mattias Green’s supervision. This work served as a proof-of-concept investigation which motivated my current research.

Research Interests
I am continuing to utilise geological tidal proxies in my MScRes Ocean Sciences project at Bangor, titled ‘Rock Music: Tidal Signals in Carboniferous Rocks’. Under the supervision of Prof Mattias Green, Dr Jaco Baas, and Dr Sophie Ward, I will combine oceanography and sedimentology in a novel way to develop a new type of geological proxy to quantify ancient tidal characteristics. Using this, I will constrain and validate global tidal model simulations for the Carboniferous time period.

The North West Science Network is a programme run between Oxford University's Corpus Christi College and schools/colleges in North West England to engage further education students with research-level scientists and promote the consideration of STEMM-related career choices.
Guest speakers from Oxford and Bangor Universities discussed their pathways into STEMM and their current research to inspire learners and promote science as a discipline and career.
