Why Bangor?

I chose Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ as I received an email from a friend who was in the international student ambassador scheme. 

The International Ambassador Scheme 

Student ambassadors helped me a lot when I had my concerns, and I would like to be as helpful to students who have similar issues and concerns.  At the beginning of the pandemic, being an international student did seem a challenge, as we had to constantly stay up to date with travel advice and Welsh government policies. Thankfully, the government helpline was always very helpful and did their best to support us in such a difficult time. 

The Course 

Medical Sciences is a course that I have thoroughly enjoyed from the beginning. I aspire to be a medic, and it has been a steppingstone. For someone who felt that they were at disadvantage for not having Biology in A-level, this course has helped me fill in the gaps. 

The Lecturers 

The lecturers are always present to help anyone who needs help.  I felt the importance of tutors during the pandemic as they are always willing to answer any questions that I have. The library has a vast collection of subject related resources which has been extremely helpful. 

Clubs and Societies

In the first year, I attended the Amnesty Society and went to a few meetings in the Medical Sciences Society. I enjoy spending time with friends and going on walks and hikes. 

The best thing about Bangor?

It’s a student-centred city which I believe is important that every student experiences.  The nature and the landscape are also wonderful here at Bangor which I will miss when I leave.  

Support from the University 

Without a doubt! Personal tutors often check in on us and are always on hand to listen to all our concerns. They genuinely try to support us in every way possible.

Advice to new International students

Don’t shy away from contacting student services, they are there to help. They have helped me a lot to settle in and clear any doubts I had. 

The Future

My plans are to commence a career in medicine.
