The International Mentor Scheme

The international mentor scheme is one of the incredible services offered by the university to international students. Through this scheme, international students get excellent support from mentors in the areas like settling into the university and the Bangor community, which may be different from their communities. So, I joined the mentor scheme because knowing how challenging it can be for international students when moving to another country and new community and me having almost two years of student experience in Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ, I want to help my fellow new international students, especially, to easily settle in Bangor and enjoy their studies at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ.

What is the most difficult thing about being an International Student

From my experience as an international student and my conversation with other international students, I will say the three biggest difficulties international students face are Cultural Adjustment, Financial Strain and the Education System Differences.

The Course

I did my Master’s in Social Policy and i'm now undertaking a PhD in Sociology/Social Policy. Acquiring a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy will equip me with the expertise to conduct significant research on social, policy, and political issues at local, national, and international levels.

The Lecturers

One of the things that I like about Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is how lecturers relate with students. My lecturers prioritise the students by always ensuring that students understand their module, and what they teach by going the extra mile to explain key terms in the module to us. Lecturers are very responsive when you send emails related to academics or anything that is a risk to your studies, they reply on time.

Clubs and Societies

I am a member of the Postgraduate Research Society and I joined a number of volunteering groups which gives me the opportunity to impact lives.

Bangor and the area

Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is located in the beautiful city of Bangor, which makes for a really alluring setting. The university campus, which is surrounded by North Wales' breathtaking scenery, is a seamless fusion of old-world charm with cutting-edge conveniences.

Support from the university

There is a vast range of support for students, ranging from wellbeing counselling to learning skills, and of course, we’ve got the students union which seeks to ensure that students get the best out of the university through the various support schemes it offers to students.
