There are two main reasons why I choose Bangor. Firstly, I enjoy the natural scenery in Bangor. There are many nice beaches and mountains worthy to discover in Bangor. Secondly, the lecturers in School of Ocean Science are not only聽 leaders in their field, conducting research which has a global impact, but they are also supportive to students' study and development.
What is the most difficult thing about being an International Student
To me, language is the most difficult thing. As English is not my native language, I feel unconfident and scared to speak English in the public at first. This difficulty once prevented me from making new friends and sharing my scientific outputs with other people. 聽
The Course
I am a PhD researcher in the School of Ocean Science, concentrating on the turbulence mixing in the Cape Cauldron region of the southeast Atlantic.
Bangor and the area
One of my favourite things about Bangor is the university sports centre (Canolfan Brailsford). There is a two-floor gym and plenty of sports facilities in Canolfan Brailsford, that meet with the different requirements of students. I usually play badminton or tennis with my friends at weekend also.
Advice for new international students
Take steps out of your comfort zone and you will find a wider and more comfortable world.
The future
In the future, I will keep going in academia. I plan to apply for a postdoctoral position or an academic job in Oceanography.
