The International Ambassador Scheme

As an international ambassador I will have the opportunity to showcase the university, which will promote learners' abilities to connect with friends and activities. With the desire to engage my peers, I feel that my confidence in speaking will ensure that I talk to others about our campus. Over time after studying in schools in the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the UK, I think that I have acquired the ability to apply different perspectives to different situations as an ambassador. Through this knowledge, I can provide suggestions that would make the university a desirable place for students.

Why Bangor

The UK has always been my best destination to go and study abroad because of its advanced educational institutions. Based on my view and existing recommendations, Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is one of the best performing schools in the country and as such, I applied to join Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ's School of Psychology because I believe that it will offer an opportunity to gain knowledge that will help me accomplish my goals. I also chose Bangor since it prepares students to explore opportunities and guides them towards personal, academic, and professional success. Moreover, I chose Bangor because it has libraries and research centres that provide the chance for students to acquire knowledge related to their fields of study.

Most beautiful thing about being an International Student at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ

One beautiful thing about being an international student at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is that the institution is welcoming to learners from diverse backgrounds. The institution is also one of the most reliable globally and it is easily accessable from any point in the city. I like the fact that I can easily walk to my lectures from the coffee shop or home. The accommodation provided by Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is of high quality and available to all learners. In other words, it offers a home-like environment that acts as a perfect home for students to be engaged in their studies despite being in a new nation. The climate in the region where Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is located is favourable all year round.

The most difficult thing about being an International Student

The most difficult thing is experiencing homesickness. As an international student, one is away from family members and their own culture, which may affect adaptability to the new environment. The language barrier is also an issue since one has to start learning a new language afresh. Culture shock also occurs due to differences in perspectives, which may make it difficult to fit in.

What social activities do you enjoy

I enjoy volunteering whereby I help people connect with friends and make the work a suitable place to work in. Also, I enjoy group walks because it is an activity that promotes socialising and has a positive impact on health. Finally, I took a Spanish course last semester because leaning a new language will improve my memory and encourage me to get to know other cultures.

Advice for new International students

I would advise new International students to contact the accommodation department to plan for their accommodation.  I would advise them to read about their courses on the university's website. Since Bangor puts the reading lists for each course online,  it is important that those planning to come to study examine the requirements. They can also re-examine the details sent via email so that they can have an idea of what to expect. It will also allow for an effective headstart, which would build confidence when attending lectures. It is also important to spend quality time with friends to limit the feeling of homesickness when coming to study at Bangor.
