Lucy Yates Law with Criminology
Lucy Yates came to Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ through Clearing and was accepted to study Law with Criminology.
The course…
Bar the fact that I just really enjoy what I am studying, the lecturers are absolutely amazing. They're always there to help with any questions you may have about the course and offer feedback should you want it. Additionally, I am entering my exam period and all my lecturers have been so supportive and given up their time to hold optional revision sessions which have been incredibly helpful.
The Academic School
Not only is the Bangor Law School a part of a beautiful campus, like mentioned earlier, the staff really make it a wonderful school to be studying at.
Did you come to Bangor through Clearing?
I phoned Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ after receiving A Levels that were not reflective of me as a student, I never felt looked down upon when giving these to Bangor. Not only was I offered a place to study the course I wanted to but the staff kept in contact throughout the process to keep me updated and also ensure I was okay. I was also offered a campus tour, after accepting my place, which also helped as it meant I was not going into my studies without even knowing the University.
What advice would you give to A level students who might be worrying about their results?
I know it's a scary time but I've been there, come out on the other side, and I couldn't be happier where I've decided to study. No matter what your grades are, you can still find a University suited to you that might even be a better fit than the ones you applied for, which is certainly how I feel about Bangor.
Support
Bangor has so many services available for students and the staff who are a part of these are always so polite and supportive. During Covid, I had to apply to study from home and this was approved with no fuss, which certainly helped me focus on my studies. In addition to this, the University offers housing support and I booked a meeting in which we walked through an entire Tenancy Agreement, and I was never made to feel uneducated for not knowing everything.
Social activities
The nightlife in Bangor is something I definitely enjoy. There are multiple pubs within walking distance from the student villages. Academi, which is the student nightclub, is also a great place to go.
Living in halls
I lived in halls for my first year and I'm actually moving back in for my second. The accommodation offered by the University is a really nice place to live and the 24hr security certainly helps me feel safer. As well as this, there is a gym onsite which really sold it for me.
Living in Bangor
Overall, I love everything about the University and the city itself. Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ is located just a short walk from the pier which is a great place to go in the summer and the University itself is so welcoming. I would seriously recommend coming to study at Bangor as I couldn't be happier with my choice.
Bangor Employability Award
I have taken part in multiple activities that have counted towards the BE, and despite just going towards this award, I found I gained a lot of knowledge from them as well.
