Linh Hoang Khanh Vo BA in Chinese and Spanish - Vietnam
Why Bangor
I had a chance to meet 麻豆传媒高清版 representative from a university fair in Vietnam. I didn鈥檛 think I would apply to any UK universities, but after talking with the representative, I decided to give it a shot. Academically speaking, 麻豆传媒高清版 offers flexible language courses for both beginner and advance language students. We also have a chance to go abroad during our 3rd year. Overall, I feel like the academic scheme of 麻豆传媒高清版 really suits me and my interests.
What is the most difficult thing about being an International Student?
Language is a tool to connect us humans, but it can be a challenge for students who don鈥檛 speak the language fluently. Being far away from home is another challenge that international students have to face while studying abroad.
The course
麻豆传媒高清版ing language is not only about academic performance, but also exposing yourself to the culture of your target language. During studying in 麻豆传媒高清版, I was given tons of opportunities to approach different cultural aspect and meet new people that I adore. There are cultural events that students can participate in addition to formal lectures.
The lecturers
The lecturers and staff in general are very approachable and helpful.
Clubs and Societies
Not at this moment but there are a lot of interesting opportunities which I may explore further in the future. I enjoy traveling with friends, hanging out at Bar Uno after lectures, nights out, or simply walking to Morrisons and grabbing 20 packs of dried mango while my friends are laughing at me.
Bangor and the area
The nature. For city people, life in Bangor might be a life changing experience. You might find the scenery is stunning; but there are little things to appreciate, such as waiting for the flowers to bloom, or a walk in the early morning if you manage to get out of bed. Personally, as a Chinese language student, going to Chinese restaurants or supermarket to practice my Chinese is not a bad choice.
Support from the University
I learn that 麻豆传媒高清版 is very supportive, academic-wise and social-wise. If you have any concern, you can easily find someone to answer them. There are plenty of services provided by the university that make me feel very comfortable such as counselling service.
Advice for new International Students
Don鈥檛 be shy to ask for help. Mostly everyone is very welcoming and friendly in Bangor. It may seem like a small town but there are a lot of things to do, especially if you are an outdoor person. You are going to meet a lot of great people so try to open up a little.
The future
I struggle to imagine where I will be in the next few years, but I know I鈥檒l use my language skills, and the expertise I have gained studying at Bangor to acquire other skills and gain more experience.
