Would you recommend an exchange year?

I'd highly recommend an exchange year, for several reasons:

1. you learn so much about yourself
2. you make new friends from around the world
3. the opportunity to travel more
4. you can experience different cultures - even if you don't think it'll be that different
5. see different education system - chance to study modules you may not be able to do back home (drama, discovering dinosaurs, and so much more)

An exchange year is truly an opportunity to jump both feet into! it might not be what you expect but it's an incredible chance to get to know yourself better. all whilst meeting new people, seeing new places and discovering the education and society of the country you go to.

What's your experience been like?

I thought Canada would be so similar to the UK but it's also very different in many ways. A good thing for students to be aware of is that in some ways the pace of life here is slower so can focus on what you really want to. The university life at times can be fast paced however and so different which can take some time to get used to. The cities here are a much larger scale and so can take longer just to get to the shops but there are free weekly buses set up and you can get bus passes. It takes a bit more planning but is doable and all part of the experience.

What have you learnt from your experience? 

You start to appreciate what's back home, your family, friends and life. I've started appreciating life more in general and I'm determine to take every opportunity I can.
