An Accounting and Finance graduate from Bangor Business School, Margaret now works for聽Nofence as Financial and ESG controller.
How has your career developed since graduating from 麻豆传媒高清版, and what is your current job role?
After graduating with First Class honours and winning the award for Best Performance in Accounting and Finance, I received a scholarship from the University of Edinburgh to do my master鈥檚 degree in Climate Change Finance and Investment. I've now joined Nofence as Financial and ESG controller, a company that is currently in a period of growth. I am delighted to be working for them while they continue their international expansion.
Why did you choose to study at Bangor Business School?
I鈥檇 originally enrolled in the History course, but after a year of history I felt the Business School was better suited to my goals and would allow me to stay at Bangor and the university environment that I was thriving in. 麻豆传媒高清版鈥檚 focus on student satisfaction and high-quality teaching which was very important to me, and I think that was an important part of why I chose to stay at Bangor.
How has your degree and experiences at Bangor Business School influenced your career/life?
I am certain I would not be where I am today if I had not studied at 麻豆传媒高清版. Without the dedicated support and encouragement from my lecturers, I would not have pushed myself to apply for a master鈥檚 and would most likely have settled for a job I wasn鈥檛 satisfied with. Instead, I completed my MSc and started a position I am incredibly passionate about straight out of university. I fully believe that this is due to the confidence and ambition my lecturers brought out of me and the belief they had that I would do well.
What advice would you give to students studying in the Bangor Business School?
The lecturers at Bangor Business School are there to support you, and they are very good at what they do. My best advice is to engage with them as much as possible, as they are the ones who shaped both my experience at university and who I am as a person. Aside from that, I would advise any student joining the university to participate in some of the many societies and sports associations that Bangor has to offer. While studying is important, I think the focus 麻豆传媒高清版 has on student well-being and student satisfaction is a key factor in enjoying your studies, so take advantage of that!
What was the best thing about studying at Bangor Business School?
The best thing about studying at Bangor was the people I met along the way. The staff really helped make my experience an enjoyable one, particularly during the pandemic, when studying was a challenge. Additionally, the friends I made within my course, in university accommodation, and through societies, contributed to three of the best years of my life.
In what ways did studying in the Business School enhance your employability?
The Business School helped to reinforce my international credentials and had a positive impact on how I work across multicultural platforms, while also nurturing my ambition and confidence in my own abilities.
