Charles studied聽Financial Economics with Bangor Business School as a Undergraduate before staying with Bangor to study Banking and Law at Postgraduate level.聽
How has your career developed since graduating from 麻豆传媒高清版, and what is your current job role?
Following graduation, I started working as an Investment Analyst at Arrow Global Ltd, a leading European investor and asset manager based in Manchester. I was fortunate enough to be placed into the central Capital Allocation team where I was able to build on my academic skillset that I鈥檇 acquired at Bangor, quickly gaining exposure to the fast-paced environment of the fund and investment management business. My day-to-day role now involves providing support to the Portfolio Management team and monitoring portfolio performance across a wide range of investment vehicles, ensuring return targets are achieved from new investment opportunities. I am currently in my 2nd year of working for the firm and continue to grow with the business.
Why did you choose to study at Bangor Business School?
I鈥檇 chosen Bangor Business School for its excellent reputation for delivering outstanding results within their Accounting, Banking and Finance degrees. I鈥檇 also read that they had an excellent track record of graduates who go on to work within international financial markets and institutions.
How has your degree and experiences at Bangor Business School influenced your career/life?
Having studied both Financial Economics at an undergraduate level and Banking and Law at a postgrad level while at Bangor has allowed me to explore a broad spectrum of financial disciplines. Having the flexibility to choose from a plethora of modules allowed me to home in on the areas of study I found exciting and shape my understanding of the kind of career I wanted. I don鈥檛 believe I would be where I am today if it wasn鈥檛 for the flexibility for areas of study that are on offer at Bangor Business School; it has opened many doors that led me to the career I鈥檓 now embarking on.
What advice would you give to students studying in the Bangor Business School?
There is no such thing as a silly question - don鈥檛 be afraid to get stuck in and engage with your lecturers!
What was the best thing about studying at Bangor Business School?
You鈥檙e very quickly exposed to a wide range of materials and learning resources and there is always help and support available from the lecturers, some of whom even studied at BBS. It also helped that Hen Goleg allowed for some of the most scenic views of the Menai straight!
In what ways did studying in the Business School enhance your employability?
The support, care, and encouragement from my lecturers gave me the confidence I needed to succeed in finding employment. Not only do lecturers care about how you perform inside the classroom, but they also care about how you鈥檒l succeed later down the line. The career fairs and employment support on offer at BBS certainly helped me to connect with people in the same area of study and branch out my network in order to secure a job after graduation. In fact, if I hadn鈥檛 attended a 麻豆传媒高清版 careers fair, I wouldn鈥檛 have met the employer I鈥檓 still with today!
