The ranked the University joint 18th out of 151 universities in the UK.
Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Sustainability, Dr Christian Dunn, said,
鈥淲e couldn鈥檛 be happier with this result 鈥 we know we鈥檙e a great university for so many reasons, including our work on sustainability, and so it鈥檚 great to be recognised in this way.
鈥淲e are especially delighted to be ranked joint 1st for Education for Sustainable Development and 12th for Carbon Management.
鈥淭he People and Planet University League Table is one of the most important league tables in these areas because it considers all areas of sustainability, not just the obvious environmental issues.
鈥淥bviously we wouldn鈥檛 be in this fantastic position if it wasn鈥檛 for the work our entire University community is doing every day to make a real difference in all areas of sustainability.
鈥淲e have some incredible people who work tirelessly behind the scenes helping to ensure we鈥檙e on track with our sustainability actions.鈥
Sustainability is at the very heart of everything we do at the University, from our research and teaching to estate management and everyday business 鈥 so we鈥檙e delighted with our position in People and Planet鈥檚 table.
We certainly deserve a pat on the back, but there鈥檚 still work to do as we鈥檙e not number one yet!
