The University’s Symphony Orchestra will be joined by Iwan Llewelyn Jones this Friday 25 February at Prichard-Jones Hall as Bangor’s Music100 centenary celebrations continue.

He will perform Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor as part of the evening’s programme.
As we celebrate one hundred years of music-making at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ, it gives me great pleasure to be able to join the University Symphony Orchestra under the conductorship of Gwyn L Williams to perform one of the great piano concertos in our repertoire. It’s full of wonderful tunes, beautiful moments and a dash of technical virtuosity here and there!
Iwan is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the Royal College of Music, where he won several awards and competitions for both academic and pianistic excellence. He has achieved success in international piano competitions in Spain, France, Italy and Great Britain and has performed at many of the world’s prestigious concert halls including London’s Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Sydney Opera House and Cardiff St David’s Hall. In October 2018 he visited China to give a series of concerts and masterclasses in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The concert will also include Williams Mathias’ Dance Overture, the Andante Festivo by Sibelius and AntonÃn Dvořák’s Symphony 8 in G Major.
Friday evening, 25 February, 7.30pm, Prichard-Jones Hall, Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ.
