The NHS has a world-renowned reputation which I am proud to be part of. There is job security, and transferable benefits from different NHS trusts, and I have the prospect of a good pension for the future.
Describe what you do?
I am a deputy sister working on a busy regional vascular surgery unit. I am regularly in charge of the ward, and I deliver nursing care including administering medications and changing dressings.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love meeting new people and being able to develop a rapport with patients making their time in hospital a little easier.
What would you say to someone thinking about a career in the NHS?
I would highly recommend a career in the NHS - there is such a wide variety of careers available within it with excellent career progression opportunities. I started as a cadet nurse in the NHS before going to university and have now been with the service for nearly 20 years.
