Adam Hawker

Trainee Clinical Scientist in Microbiology at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
Studied: BSc Biomedical Science, 2016

I decided to study at Bangor due to the smaller size of the city campus, the easy access to open spaces to help unwind, and the excellent reputation the University has for biological and medical sciences.

"I initially wanted to study medicine, and soon realised during my A-levels that I would not be able to apply via the direct route, but as I researched into careers in healthcare, I discovered the area of biomedical science. I then found out about the Institute of Biomedical Science,听and how an accredited degree can enable you to progress into a state registered role within the NHS. 麻豆传媒高清版 provided an accredited degree which would fast-track my career into being a state registered scientist.听

"麻豆传媒高清版 is well known for its societies and groups that are free to join, which makes socialising and building friendship groups so easy. "Since graduating, I have progressed from a laboratory assistant, to a trainee biomedical scientist, to being state registered and now gaining a place on the clinical scientist training programme. 听

鈥淢y current three-year training course involves me rotating around the different areas of infectious science within the hospital setting and will enable me to research and implement new high-quality technologies to aid the detection and diagnosis of infectious diseases, which is something the Covid pandemic has highlighted as critical in a modern healthcare system. 听
