The 2023 edition of the considers data from 1,500 institutions worldwide, with around 160 universities in the UK providing information. �鶹��ý����� is included within six disciplines, with all the subjects improving against the previous table:  

•    Agriculture & Forestry: Ranked in the Top 150 globally, and 6th in the UK
•    Psychology: Ranked in the top 250 globally, and 33rd in the UK  
•    Environmental Sciences: Ranked in the top 300 globally, and 30th in the UK
•    Economics & Econometrics: Ranked in the top 530 globally, and 51st in the UK
•    Medicine: Ranked in the top 600 globally, and 40th in the UK
•    Biological Sciences: Ranked in the top 600 globally, and 42nd in the UK

Citations, or how often research papers are referred to in other peer-reviewed papers, is one of the key metrics in the table, and Agriculture & Forestry, Medicine, and Environmental Sciences at the university have secured particularly high scores within this metric.  The metrics also consider the institution’s academic and employer reputation, and the international research collaborations within disciplines.

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, published in 2022, recognised that 85% of �鶹��ý�����’s research is either world-leading or internationally excellent.
