School of Health Sciences MOOC shortlisted for Nursing Times Award 2020
A MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), developed by staff at School of Health Sciences, supported by Bethan Jones from the Learning Technology Unit, and in conjunction with Tracey Cooper, Interim Director of Infection Prevention & Control, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has been shortlisted for the Nursing Times Awards this year.
The MOOC, in its 3rd year, and originally developed from a School of Health Sciences research project with BCUHB, is a distance learning course which offers bite-size learning units focusing on enhancing knowledge about the principles of infection prevention, leadership, behaviour change, championing and the workplace context. This year, the facilitators Dr Jaci Huws, Dr Lynne Williams and Tracey Cooper have seen an unprecedented rise in applications and will continue to ensure the focus of the MOOC is firmly on promoting patient safety, and providing participants across health and care a flexible high quality educational experience in infection prevention and control. The MOOC is also available to undertake through the medium of Welsh.

Entering their 30th year, the Nursing Times Awards are the most respected and relevant awards in the nursing and healthcare sector, representing true excellence in nursing and patient care. The awards will take place in a glittering evening of recognition on Wednesday 14 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London.
