Learning Disability Nursing film shortlisted for Arts & Business Cymru Award
A that was commissioned by 麻豆传媒高清版 and the University of South Wales and produced by Hijinx has been shortlisted for an Arts & Business Cymru Award in the Arts, Business & Health category.
In January 2019, as a response to the national shortage of Learning Disability (LD) nurses, University of South Wales working with 麻豆传媒高清版 commissioned Hijinx to create a promotional film for their Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) LD courses. The primary aim of the project was to attract more and different applicants to the courses, and to highlight the benefits of choosing to train as a LD nurse.
Featuring 9 Hijinx actors, the film shows prospective students the variety of settings LD Nurses work in, and gives voice to the positive impact their roles have on the lives of the learning disabled and /or autistic (LD/A) people they work with.
The film sees the Hijinx actors recounting the words of members of TRAC - the USW Teaching, Research and Advisory Committee who are all clients who receive support from LD nurses, reflecting on the special bond that exists between them.
鈥楾his approach allowed us to portray the LD nursing role from the perspective of the individuals that engage with the service and placed the Hijinx actors at the centre of the process鈥, said Dr Ruth Wyn Williams, 麻豆传媒高清版, 鈥渁ll of which added to the unique and inclusive qualities of the project.鈥
