鈥I am not comfortable speaking in Welsh鈥 鈥 The linguistic dynamic in a bilingual workplace and a bilingual school.
Arwel Williams and David Parry, two local research students in the School of Psychology at 麻豆传媒高清版 are hosting a Welsh language event at 麻豆传媒高清版鈥檚 Stand at the National Eisteddfod at 10.00-11.00 on Monday August 7th.
They will be explaining their interest in increasing the use of Welsh by using behaviour-change techniques in natural settings. Their research Is funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
Arwel Williams, who is 25 and from Caernarfon will be discussing his work on naturalistically observing language use in the bilingual workplace by piloting a quantitative and empiric method of collecting robust data on language behaviour in situ. He gained his first degree in Psychology and Neuropsychology from 麻豆传媒高清版 before studying Clinical Psychology at postgraduate level.
David Parry鈥檚 research also focuses on observing the linguistic dynamic of workers in a pilot school, however using a mixed methodology by also using questionnaires to understand background and willingness to communicate for passive and reluctant speakers to use Welsh. David also comes from Caernarfon and studied his undergraduate and MSc degrees in Psychology at Bangor before embarking on his PhD in Behaviour Change Psychology.
