The Extremes Research Group are rapidly gaining recognition for their research into how humans face the challenge of extreme environments.

Members presented on a wide range of research projects ranging from the beneficial effects of nutritional supplementation during the arduous training completed by soldiers at Brecon barracks to ongoing research with Besthesda based business, Blizzard, which aims to provide guidance on how to best protect individuals from cold stress. Other projects include how sleep disruption can alter vascular health and mountain research carried out on an expedition to the Himalayas. The group have also recently been involved in two television programmes, "Bang Goes the Weather" on BBC1 and S4C's "Ras yn Erbyn Amser" which followed the trials and tribulations of presenter Lowri Morgan as she undertook a grueling eight day foot race across the Arctic.
