This fellowship was established to support young scholar to engage in in-depth fieldwork in the humanities and social sciences. Hundreds of Chinese students in China and abroad from diverse fields applied for this fellowship – a small research grant awarded to 15 PGR students - which was organised this year by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology in China.
Bo's doctoral research explores the impact of the victims’ experience of anti-Chinese hate crimes on British society after COVID-19. He primarily conducts qualitative research analysis, using fieldwork research combined with semi-structured interview methods for data collection. Bo has now completed over 40 interviews with Chinese people who work, study, and travel in different British cities such as Bangor, Manchester, Cambridge, Glasgow and Edinburgh.Ìý
With the successful acquisition of this fellowship, Bo expects to expand his fieldwork scope further, thereby enriching his data sources. Bo is supervised by Dr Teresa Crew and Prof Martina Feilzer.
