This year marks 25 years of the devolutionary settlement in which race equality is set as a constitutional aspiration. Â In this lecture Professor Charlotte Williams offers a viewing of the past, present and future oriented commitment of the Welsh government in respect of race equality. She suggests the devolutionary period is marked by three distinct eras, each underpinned by particular assumptions and approaches to change, begging the question: can governments shape, change and comprehensively address racial inequalities?
Professor Williams will take the opportunity of the Welsh Political Archive Lecture to launch her new book, co-edited with her colleague Neil Evans, , 2024 University of Wales Press.Â
