From the Ivory Coast to Wales: talk with Joseph Gnagbo

In 2018 Joseph Gnagbo fled his homeland, the Ivory Coast in West Africa and received asylum as a refugee in Wales. He'd left his family and two daughters because he was threatened by the President of the country, Alassane Ouattara. When he arrived in Cardiff he knew nothing about Wales or the Welsh language, but as he already spoke seven languages including French and English and set about learning Welsh. In 2019 he was so good in his new language that he became a Welsh teacher.
In this conversation Joseph will discuss his experience as a refugee, settling in Wales and his attitude towards Wales and the Welsh language and the people of Wales towards him as a black man and a refugee.
