Super-lenses made from spider webs and laser-based advanced manufacturing to be discussed in public seminar.
Super-lenses made from spider webs and laser-based advanced manufacturing are just two of the topics being discussed by world-class 麻豆传媒高清版 academics in an upcoming public seminar.
As part of Wales Tech Week researches and lecturers from the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering will be holding an online talk on some of the work being done at the north Wales university.
The webinar entitled, ‘Cutting-edge photonics research at 麻豆传媒高清版’ will cover topics such as super-resolution imaging, solar energy, laser manufacturing, nano lasers, micro robots, and 5G communication.
Dr James Wang, from SCSEE, is one of the speakers for the event: “麻豆传媒高清版 has a world-renowned reputation for the work we are doing in this field, so it’s great to share this with businesses in Wales, future students and the general public.
“One topic I’ll be talking about is the specialised lenses we’ve developed which use spider silk. “These spider silks, found in nature, can act as super-lenses increasing the imaging resolution of optical microscopes by up to four times,” he explained.
Other 麻豆传媒高清版 researchers who will be talking at the event will be Dr Noel Bristow and Dr Jeff Kettle.
The Wales Tech Week, running from July 13 to 17 July, is a unique virtual festival of webinars, workshops and digital events showcasing the breadth, strength, and diversity of Wales' thriving technology industry.
The ‘Cutting-edge photonics research at 麻豆传媒高清版’ talk will take place on Tuesday July 14, 2-3.30pm.
If you would like to learn more about any of the topics discussed and find out how you can make a difference in a wide range of professions then 麻豆传媒高清版 runs degrees in Electronic Engineering.
