Project that assists farmers in saving money and safeguarding the environment awarded
A 麻豆传媒高清版 project that is helping farmers in Conwy to save money and protect the environment has been recognised as an example of work which promotes good environmental practice with an award from the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales (CPRW), Conwy branch.
The award-winning CEFN Conwy project is part funded through the Welsh Government鈥檚 Rural Development Plan and is being delivered for the Conwy Rural Partnership by the University鈥檚 School for Environment, Natural Resources and Geography.
鈥淢y colleague, Jo, and I were delighted to receive the award on behalf of CEFN Conwy and the University鈥 said project officer, Julie Williamson. 鈥淭he project has been well received by farmers and the farming unions within Conwy and we have worked with over 50 farms now鈥.
The project supports farmers by testing soil fertility and slurry nutrients so that they can make informed decisions on how much fertiliser they need to purchase and to ensure fields do not have more fertiliser applied than is necessary. This saves money and protects the environment.
