Best wishes to Steve as he carries the Olympic Flame today
Steve Barnard, an MSc student at 麻豆传媒高清版鈥檚 is running with the London 2012 Olympic Torch in Morecambe on July 22.
Steve has been nominated for the work that he has done in the community. He gave up to 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends supporting students in Rugby Union, First Aid and Scuba Diving. He has worked closely with the
Athletics Union, including arranging First Aid cover for the Ultra Marathon charity event.
Steve has already received a number of prestigious accolades including the British Universities and Colleges Sports Volunteer of the Year award and also the High Sheriff鈥檚 Award from 麻豆传媒高清版.
Responding to how he felt about having been chosen to carry the London 2012 Olympic Torch, Steve said:
鈥淚 am really pleased that I am doing it. It has generated a lot of interest and people are genuinely intrigued by it. My family and friends are all behind it.鈥
He went on to say that as a 鈥渟tudents can get bad press in the media however the reality is that the vast majority are really productive, upstanding and positive adults. It鈥檚 really good that there is this opportunity for recognition.鈥
Steve was selected to carry the London 2012 Olympic Torch by Coca-Cola, a Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
