Overview
Communication Confidentiality Male & female anatomy & physiology of the reproductive systems Physiology of the menstrual cycle The advantages and disadvantages of the full range of contraceptive options. Hormonal methods of contraception Non hormonal methods of contraception Natural methods of contraception Psychosexual counselling Sexual health education and health promotion The principles of taking a full sexual history and assess the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases The principles of SRH delivery to include the user’s perspective, working with young people and the law relevant to the four countries in the UK. The principles of testing for those requesting asymptomatic screening for sexually transmitted infections. Screening and Vaccination programmes in SRH The principles of equality and diversity in relation to sexual health consultations Trauma informed care The importance of a non- judgemental attitude The principles of the advice to be given to men and women so that they can make informed choices about managing their fertility. The mechanisms to support a woman who has an unplanned pregnancy and arrange appropriate onward referral. Risk Assessment and sexual behaviour. The law relating to sexual activity. Planning a pregnancy.

-threshold -ThresholdIn order to achieve a ‘pass’ for this module, students will be required to achieve a minimum of C- to demonstrate the basic requirements of the role of the nurse/midwife in the field of sexual and reproductive health in relation to the module outcomes -good -Good In order to achieve a ‘ good pass’ for this module, students will be required to achieve an average of B - grade to demonstrate a critical analysis of the role of the nurse/midwife in the field of sexual and reproductive health -excellent -ExcellentIn order to achieve a ‘excellent pass’ for this module, students will be required to achieve an average of an A - grade the work should demonstrate an excellent logical academic presentation of the role of the nurse/midwife in the field of sexual and reproductive healthand achievement of all the expected learning outcomes

- 2. Critically evaluate the theory supporting the provision of contraception and associated health services
- Critically analyse the roles and responsibilities of practitioners in a multidisciplinary team which provides contraceptive and sexual health services
- Critically evaluate the complex ethical and legal issues that may arise in the provision of contraceptive and sexual health services
- Critically evaluate the principles and techniques of contraception and demonstrate the clinical skills required to meet client’s needs
