Overview
The module is not part of the standard module curriculum. The report is intended to encourage students to plan, reflect upon and evaluate their personal and linguistic development in formal and informal contexts during their year abroad. Students are also required to engage actively with work / employment related issues in the planning and carrying out of their duties. In addition, they are encouraged to consider their role as part of a team in a professional context to evaluate the specific and transferable skills developed during their work placement.
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -Threshold (D- to D+) Students will demonstrate satisfactory ability to carry out duties as required in their place of work. They will also demonstrate understanding of differences between the world of work in their host country and in their own country. Written work will demonstrate satisfactory grasp of the target language, satisfactory ability to adopt appropriate academic writing style and register, and ability to analyse and evaluate.
-good -Good (C- to B+) Students will demonstrate ability to carry out duties as required in their place of work effectively and to a good standard, and potentially to take on responsibility. They will also demonstrate a good understanding of differences between the world of work in their host country and in their own country. Written work will demonstrate good grasp of the target language, ability to adopt appropriate academic writing style and register, and ability to analyse and evaluate effectively.
-excellent -Excellent (A- to A*) Students will have demonstrated an excellent understanding ability to carry out duties and take on responsibility as required in their place of work. Students will also demonstrate a critical understanding of differences between the world of work in their host country and in their own country. Written work will demonstrate excellent grasp of the target language, appropriate academic writing style and register, and excellent analytical and evaluative skills.
