Welcome by Bangor Branch Officer Emily Boyman

"Hello everyone! I'm Emily Boyman, and I'm the Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ Branch Officer of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. I'm a former student of Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ. I graduated with a degree in Sociology and Social Policy back in 2018, so it's nice to be back here! I grew up in a non-Welsh speaking household and learned Welsh mainly through the education system. Undertaking a Welsh medium higher education course was a natural choice for me. I hope this experience will help me in my role."

Modules and courses

Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ offers many opportunities for students who wish to study through the medium of Welsh. In collaboration with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Bangor provides more modules and courses through the medium of Welsh than any other university. Bangor also has the highest number of students studying through the medium of Welsh.

The will give you an indication to what extent you can study your course in Welsh.

All students who are members of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol have the opportunity to apply for the Welsh Language Skills Certificate. The certificate is a way of showing employers that the student's Welsh language skills are of a recognized level, and that they can communicate and write confidently in Welsh.

In order to gain the certificate, students have to complete and pass:

  • A written exam (1.5 hours)
  • An oral test (15 minutes)

Language support sessions are available to anyone who wishes to apply for the Certificate. Support at Bangor is provided by the language tutors at Canolfan Bedwyr.

Any student can apply for the Certificate.
